Republican Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison called President Barack Obama a divisive leader who is unwilling to work with Congress to fix Social Security or create jobs.
“He should be joining with Congress right now . . . to say we can fix Social Security,” Hutchison declared Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We just see divisiveness from the president, and I think that’s what, honestly, Mitt Romney is trying to show, that there’s a better way.”
She lauded the former Massachusetts governor’s record while saying voters should be scrutinizing Obama’s.
“It is laughable that the Democrats would say we shouldn’t be looking at Obama’s record,” she explained. “Are you kidding? We see the president talking about new taxes on the people who could create jobs. We see him stifling the jobs that could be created by not approving the Keystone pipeline, even though The Washington Post said he should do it.
“I think, Mr. Obama, Gov. Romney needs to show that there is a better way, that we can get the Keystone pipeline going and create jobs immediately without one taxpayer dollar being spent,” she added.
