After Low-key Start, Romney Ponders Winning Iowa

Thursday, 20 October 2011 01:06 PM EDT

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is making his first trip to Iowa in two months — and he's now talking like he may try to win the state's leadoff presidential caucuses.

Romney met with about 150 people at a town hall-style meeting Thursday in Sioux City, in the heart of conservative western Iowa. He assured them he'll be back in the state again and that, in his words, "I'd love to win Iowa."

Romney is starting to take a more aggressive campaign approach in Iowa after months of having a low-profile presence in the state.

Four years ago, Romney bet big on winning Iowa, but he came in a disappointing second place. He failed to win over cultural conservatives, like those in northwest Iowa.
