Romney Hauls $14 M for Campaign Coffers

By    |   Friday, 14 October 2011 11:05 AM EDT

The campaign of Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney announced Friday that it garnered $14.2 million in the third quarter, Politico reports. That trails the $18 million that he raised in the second quarter and the $17 million that his chief rival Rick Perry raised in the third quarter.

Romney reportedly had $14.7 million in the bank at the end of last month, compared to $15 million for Perry. While that difference is negligible, it’s quite impressive for Perry that he could amass so much money so quickly – he only entered the race Aug. 13.

Not surprisingly, Romney is spending more money as the campaign progresses. In the third quarter he spent 46 percent of the money he raised, compared to 32 percent in the second quarter.
