The Kremlin thinks so highly of California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher that it gave him a code name, The New York Times reported.
It's just another piece of the puzzle involving the 15-term Republican who is under scrutiny from congressional committees investigating Russia's influence in last year's election, as well as special counsel Robert Mueller, the Times reports.
At issue: Rohrabacher's meeting in August with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to reportedly arrange a deal, and his meeting last year with then presidential campaign adviser Michael Flynn.
Rohrabacher also dined earlier this year with Alexander Torshin, deputy governor of the Russian central bank, who had been trying to arrange a meeting between Russian president Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump, the Times reported.
Further, Republicans have clipped Rohrabacher's wings, closely monitoring his role as chair of the Foreign Relations subcommittee, and he faces a major midterm challenge from both sides.
Rohrabacher, warned by the FBI in 2012 that he was being recruited by Russia, still just shrugs it off.
"I feel like I'm in good shape politically," Rohrabacher told the Times. "My constituents couldn't care less about this. They are not concerned about Russia. They are concerned about the taxes on their home. They are concerned about illegal immigrants coming into their neighborhood and raping people."
There are six Democrats lining up to challenge Rohrabacher who disagree.
"We've got a Russian-tainted congressman," Hans Keirstead told the Times. "Why should the constituents of the 48th District vote for an individual whose interests are elsewhere?"
