Roger Stone to Newsmax TV: I'd Rather See Rosenstein Arrested Than Omarosa

By    |   Friday, 17 August 2018 07:54 PM EDT

It was a mistake for President Donald Trump to hire former Apprentice star Omarosa Manigault Newman for a spot in the White House, political strategist Roger Stone told Newsmax TV Friday night, but he has someone else he'd rather see Attorney General Jeff Sessions arrest: his assistant AG, Rod Rosenstein.

"I was very disappointed when the president hired Omarosa for the White House staff, because her first official act was to persuade the administration to send a White House delegation to the inauguration of the new regime in Haiti," Stone told "Newsmax Now" host John Bachman. "It was very unorthodox for the White House to send a delegation."

But at the same time, "I'd rather have him order Attorney General Jeff sessions to fire Rod Rosenstein," he said, responding to a Vanity Fair article that claims Trump wants Manigault Newman arrested, but didn't say on what grounds.

Stone also said he finds it interesting that during the campaign and the early days of the White House, Manigault Newman was saying that Trump was not a racist, but now she has made claims that are "completely uncorroborated by anyone else."

However, Stone said nothing Omarosa has said surprises him.

"She is talentless," he said. "She had no portfolio there. She couldn't manage to show up on time for meetings or do any work, according to what I've read, so I guess I'm not really surprised."

He also denied ever hearing Trump say an ethnic or racial slur, although Manigault Newman has claimed there is a tape recording of him using "the n-word," even though she had said in the past the president does not act as a racist.

"It kind of underscores the fact here that she's not credible in any of this," said Stone.
