The Republican National Committee brought in $7.3 million in August — pushing its total fundraising for the year to $93.3 million, the Washington Examiner reports.
"The Republican Party continues to thrive because of steady support from the American people," RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said. "We are thankful for individuals across the country who have expressed confidence in us to support President [Donald] Trump and defend Republican majorities in Congress."
The total for the year so far exceeds previous fundraising efforts, according to the Examiner. And the RNC still has more than $45 million cash on hand which attributes its information to Federal Election Commission date released on Tuesday.
Meanwhile the Democratic National Committee, which has not released its August fundraising totals yet, brought in just $38 million during the first six months of 2017 — compared to the RNC's $75 million for the same time frame.
And NBC News reported the GOP figures show Trump has been strong for his party's fundraising
RNC Finance Chairman Steve Wynn called it an "unprecedented amount of support in a nonpresidential year," according to the network news. He said Americans want "even more of the economic and political leadership offered by our party and the Trump administration."
