The Republican National Committee hit a fundraising record last month, raising $10.1 million, the highest off-year June in the organization's history,
according to The Hill.
So far in the 2016 election cycle, Republicans have raised $55.4 million, with $16.1 million cash on hand, a news release put out by the
Republican National Committee (RNC) on Monday states.
"June's record-breaking fundraising shows the enthusiasm for putting the White House back into Republican hands," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, adding that the money has allowed the GOP to deploy "staff on the ground" earlier than in any previous election cycle.
The RNC out-fundraised its Democratic counterpart substantially in June. The DNC, according to The Hill, raised $6 million in June and ended the quarter with $8 million in the bank.
"Early support from investors is absolutely essential in laying the groundwork for a victorious 2016 election," Priebus said. "It allows the RNC to make long-term strategic investments in everything from data infrastructure to on-the-ground voter engagement — all while holding Hillary Clinton accountable for her record of hypocrisy and failure."
The average Republican donation was $79 and 99 percent of money contributed has been $200 or less, according to the RNC.
Republicans also posted far less debt for the quarter than the Democrats — $1.8 million compared to $5.6 million.
