The Republican National Committee has raised a total of $199.5 million this cycle, including $27.2 million in July, marking a total that came in at $10 million short of the RNC's July fundraising during the 2012 election cycle.
"Thanks to a high level of grassroots support and our Joint Fundraising Agreements with the [Donald] Trump campaign, the RNC is raising the resources we need to elect Donald Trump president and preserve our majorities in the House and Senate," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement on Saturday. "We will continue to bolster our fundraising efforts all the way through Election Day."
Currently, the RNC has $34.5 million on hand. The average donation for July was $105 per person. In July 2012, however, during the race between President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, the committee raised $37.7 million and had $88.7 million in cash on hand.
Meanwhile, Trump's campaign war chest totals are growing. His campaign raised $80 million in July, up from $51 million in June, reaching that total on the strength of $64 million in small-dollar online donations, with the remaining $16 million coming from the RNC.
CNBC reported Trump's rising figures still fall short of Hillary Clinton's total, which brought in $90 million in July.
However, Clinton's campaign has been outspending Trump's on advertising, while the Republican nominee's camp just released its first national spot on Friday.
