President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are no longer expected to deliver a video keynote address to the Republican National Committee on Thursday night, though the president was overwhelmingly cheered when he called into the RNC's winter meeting earlier in the day.
“We love you!” some in the room yelled, according to The Washington Post.
The Independent newspaper said Trump has scrapped plans for the address, attributing its information to a source.
Word of his canceled plans came one day after protesters violently stormed the Capitol building in a show of support for Trump.
The president reportedly called in during a breakfast session of the RNC, which is holding its winter meetings in Florida, and was cheered loudly when RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel put him on speaker. He made no mention of Wednesday's violence at the U.S. Capitol.
Pence's appearance was never officially announced but was widely expected.
