Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told Newsmax TV on Wednesday that despite protests from prominent Democrats, they are the ones keeping the Senate from passing coronavirus relief legislation.
When asked on “John Bachman Now” if Democrats were the ones keeping the Senate from approving relief, Scott said: “I don't get it. Republican senators passed a relief bill twice, we said, ‘we’ll take care of the people who lost their jobs, help our small businesses, help our schools here.’ We opened more money for testing, more money for vaccines, and the Democrats in the Senate blocked it multiple times.”
He added, “I don't understand why the Democrats don’t want to help people. Now, they do have their liberal priorities, they want tax deductions for the rich and things like that. But help the people that are hurt? That’s not what the Democrats are trying to do.”
