The "radical left agenda" that is focusing on climate change without considering losses of jobs is going to hurt American families, and claims that no jobs will be sacrificed as a result of President Joe Biden's executive orders and plans are "disingenuous," Sen. Rick Scott said Thursday.
"Joe Biden doesn't care about your job or care about the people that need to get back to work," the Florida Republican said on Fox News' "The Faulkner Focus." "He is a puppet for the left."
But the environment can't be cared for, Scott added, if there are no jobs, because there will be no money to pay for change.
"I grew up in a family struggling for work," Scott said. "A lot of us did. We want to make sure our family members are working. Joe Biden and his administration don't care."
Scott said he's asked Biden's nominees about his agenda, and while "they have these platitudes, when you ask them about any numbers, any rational, they have none.
"They said, well we've got to do this," said Scott. "They don't care about jobs. (Biden) has gone off a deep end but he will make somebody like AOC (Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) happy."
Biden's National Campaign Adviser Gina McCarthy and envoy John Kerry have both insisted that the climate change push will mean millions of jobs, not unemployment, for Americans, but Scott insisted that Biden's other cabinet nominees have not mentioned jobs as a goal to him.
"I want jobs," Scott said. "I knew my job as the governor of Florida was to get people jobs. When I was governor 1.7 million people got a job. You can measure that stuff ... they don't have a measurement for anything. They have no goal."
Scott also discussed the Democrats' push to impeach former President Donald Trump, saying that it's important to hold people accountable for the rioting at the Capitol on Jan. 6, but as for Trump, "let's go forward.
"We've got to make sure we balance our budget and make sure we get people with vaccines," said Scott. "That's what we ought to be doing every day, not the political theater about the prior president."
