Most Republicans have lost faith in GOP leaders, according to a
Rasmussen Reports survey released Wednesday.
"Republican voters are far more likely than Democrats to say their party bosses are out of touch with the voter base," according to the report.
- 73 percent of Republicans think their party leaders are out of step with the rank-and-file, the survey shows.
- Only 28 percent of Democrats say the same about their party leaders. In fact, 62% approve of how Democratic party leaders have represented their voters.
- 13 percent of all voters think Republican leaders have done well representing their voters. Those leaders are out of touch with their supporters, 69 percent say, compared with 47 percent for Democratic Party leaders.
- 58 percent of liberals approve of how Democratic leaders represent their voters.
- 77 percent of those polled who thought Republican leaders opposed Trump for the White House believe that the GOP’s leaders are out of step with their voters.
- Those age 40 or older hold more critical views of leaders of both parties, but likely voters of all ages are more critical of Republican higher-ups than Democrats of the same stature.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the automated telephone poll of 1,000 likely voters between June 16 and 19. The margin of error is +/- 3 percent.
