Indiana Rep. Greg Pence Will Not Seek Reelection

By    |   Tuesday, 09 January 2024 11:53 AM EST

Rep. Greg Pence, R-Ind., older brother of former Vice President Mike Pence, said Tuesday he will not seek reelection this fall.

Currently in his third term, he becomes the second Republican member of Indiana's congressional delegation this week to announce his retirement from the U.S. House.

Rep. Larry Bucshon, R-Ind., announced Monday that he will not run for reelection.

First elected to the House in 2018, Greg Pence won the same seat his brother held before being elected Indiana governor.

"In 2017, I ran for Congress because I was Ready to Serve Again. As a former Marine Officer, I approached the job with purpose," he said in a post on X. "After three terms, I've made the decision to not file for reelection.

"For the remainder of my term this year, our team will continue to focus on delivering outstanding constituent services. To the voters in Indiana's 6th District — it is a privilege and honor to represent you in our Nation's capital."

Greg Pence serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security, the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Innovation, Data and Commerce.

He also serves on the Republican Study Committee, which has served as the conservative caucus of House Republicans and a leading influencer since its original founding in 1973.
