Rasmussen: Obama's Approval Numbers Continue Decline

The nation's voters are increasingly unhappy with President Barack Obama's job performance, the latest Rasmussen poll shows.

Only 26 percent of the nation's voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing, while 41 percent strongly disapprove.

Mitt Romney continues to hold a very slight lead over President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. In that contest, Romney is at 47 percent and the president is at 45 percent. If Rick Santorum is the GOP nominee, the president is up by just a single point, 46 to 45 percent.

In Florida, Republican hopeful Connie Mack has opened a modest lead over Democratic Senator Bill Nelson. In Arizona, the Republican Senate candidates lead as well.

Overall, 47 percent of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Fifty-one percent 51 percent at least somewhat disapprove.

Thirty-two percent  now believe the United States is generally heading in the right direction.
