Rand Paul Blasts Decision to Allow Military Gear for Local Police

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., slammed the Trump administration's intention to reverse a ban and allow state and local police to use military equipment.

Paul's comments came following an announcement by Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday that President Donald Trump will sign an executive order that will lift the ban on the 1033 Pentagon program, The Hill noted.

The move will clear the way for police to use heavy-duty arms, including high caliber guns and grenade launchers, as well as armored vehicles in their battle against crime. Former President Barack Obama had halted the program.
