Sen. Rand Paul again blasted former intelligence officials who have been openly critical of President Donald Trump, Politico is reporting.
"We've got some bad apples that need to be dismissed from the swamp of Washington," Paul, R-Ky., told more than 600 young conservatives attending a Turning Point USA dinner in Washington on Tuesday night. "I am thinking, maybe, how about John Brennan, No. 1?"
Paul singled out Brennan, a former director of the CIA, along with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI attorney Lisa Page, former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI agent Peter Strzok for "falsely accusing the president of treason and lying to members of Congress."
Paul has been outspoken on the issue recently and met with Trump on Monday to discuss it, according to Politico.
He has called for Trump to revoke Brennan's security clearance.
And the White House has announced it is investigating whether to revoke security clearances for Brennan as well as five other former Obama administration officials.
Politico noted that critics have argued that removing clearance of ex-intelligence officials would be unprecedented politicization.
