President Donald Trump will host an iftar dinner at the White House on Wednesday to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to reports Saturday, different from when the administration decided against hosting the traditional post-sundown meal last year.
A White House official disclosed the president's decision to Politico, but did not provide a list of attendees.
During Ramadan, Muslims spend dawn to sunset fasting — breaking the fast with a meal known as an iftar.
The Trump administration came under fire last year for not hosting an iftar dinner, unlike Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
In marking the start of Ramadan last month, Trump said in a statement: "Ramadan reminds us of the richness Muslims add to the religious tapestry of American life."
