Quigley: Petraeus Would Make Fine VP Under Perry

Wednesday, 17 August 2011 02:48 PM EDT

Texas Gov. Rick Perry may have just entered the Republican presidential campaign Saturday, but already speculation has begun as to who might serve as vice president in a Perry presidency. Free-Market News Network contributor Bernie Quigley suggests new CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus for the job.

In a blog appearing on The Hill, he wrote, “Petraeus would be a good fit for VP in a Rick Perry administration. It would enhance the states’ rights position Perry emphasizes in his book, ‘Fed Up! Our Fight to Save America From Washington.’ A president’s first job is to run the military. She or he must also secure the borders and deliver the mail. The rest is up for grabs.”
