Protest Disrupts Pelosi Interview on Colbert's Live Show

By    |   Wednesday, 21 August 2024 04:06 PM EDT

Chaos erupted on Stephen Colbert's live broadcast Tuesday night when anti-Israel protestors interrupted his interview with former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, forcing an abrupt halt to the segment, Breitbart reported.

A routine interview on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" took an unexpected turn when anti-Israel protestors disrupted a live segment featuring Pelosi. The incident occurred as Colbert, known for his satirical take on politics, was discussing Pelosi's new book. The broadcast was interrupted by shouting from the audience, leading producers to halt the interview temporarily.

"The subject is on Israel and Palestine, and if you have a seat, we have to go to commercial break," Colbert remarked, visibly annoyed by the disruption. Following the break, Colbert addressed the protestors, asking them to respect the format of his show.

"Please don't interrupt my guests," he said firmly, attempting to regain control of the broadcast.

The protest at Colbert's show was one of the latest in a series of demonstrations linked to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where activists have gathered to voice their anti-Israel sentiments.

These protests have added to the already chaotic atmosphere surrounding this year's DNC, where tensions have been running high among different factions within the party.

The protestors, part of a growing group of young progressives, have expressed frustration with the Democratic Party's stance on Israel as the 2024 election approaches.

Their demonstrations have garnered support from prominent left-wing figures outside the party establishment, including third-party presidential candidates Cornel West and Jill Stein. West, has been vocal in his criticism of Harris, urging voters to abandon her in favor of more progressive alternatives.

Despite Democratic leaders' efforts to address the concerns of these vocal progressives — most notably by having Harris distance herself from President Joe Biden — the protestors remain dissatisfied.

Demonstrators have repeatedly interrupted Harris' speaking engagements, even provoking direct confrontations. During a recent event in Michigan, Harris responded sharply to hecklers, saying, "I am speaking now," a phrase she has used in past debates.
