President Donald Trump put the focus on the unemployment rate among U.S. black workers on Saturday, tweeting numbers were the lowest in history.
Trump shared a tweet from conservative radio host Wayne Dupree who tweeted "ok 2 b black, conservative and love America and not vote Democrat!"
"So true Wayne, and Lowest black unemployment in history!" Trump tweeted Saturday.
Trump has held a longstanding interest in the black unemployment rate. In 2011, when he first began to use Twitter he tweeted, "Unemployment is plaguing both Black and Hispanic youths. Very troubling."
Black unemployment rose in January to 7.7 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics after falling to 6.8 percent in January. The numbers last month were the lowest for black unemployment since recordkeeping began in 1972. The current overall unemployment rate is 4.1 percent.
While Trump's policies may have contributed to continuing the upswing in the economy during recent years, critics argue that the gradual reduction in unemployment numbers began following the Great Recession in 2011 when President Barack Obama was in office.
