Even the casual observer of President Donald Trump knows that he has opinions about the amount of negative "fake news" media coverage about his presidency, but on Saturday he shared the flip side of the coin, tweeting praise for The Washington Post and their "good story" about GOP small donors, The Hill reported.
"Can't believe I finally got a good story in the @washingtonpost. It discusses the enthusiasm of "Trump" voters through campaign... contributions. The RNC is taking in far more $'s than the Dems, and much of it by my wonderful small donors. I am working hard for them!" Trump tweeted.
On Friday, The Washington Post reported small donor contributions to the Republican Party were outpacing GOP corporate donations and were flowing in greater than in the past decade. Small donations, considered to be $200 or less, were also adding up to "nearly twice as much money overall as its Democratic counterpart this year," the article explained.
In addition, the donations from Trump's base will help Republicans "amass a major advantage as the parties prepare to battle for control of Congress in the 2018 elections," the Post reported.
