A law firm representing the Trump campaign in a lawsuit challenging the election results in Pennsylvania has withdrawn from the case, multiple media outlets reported.

The Columbus, Ohio-based Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, which has offices in Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., notified the U.S. District Court in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, that its clients, the Trump campaign and two voters, "will be best served if Porter Wright withdraws."

The filing on Thursday came a day after The New York Times reported that lawyers at the firm and the Cleveland-based Jones Day law firm, the fifth largest law firm in the United States and 13th in the world, had balked at their companies' representation of the Trump campaign.

It also comes following a campaign by the anti-Trump political action committee, or PAC, The Lincoln Project, which was locked out of its Twitter account for encouraging the harassment of lawyers at Porter by sharing and distributing their names, email addresses, phone numbers and photographs, according to Business Insider.

"We’ve committed to the court to fulfill our obligations as required to ensure transition to substitute counsel, and so as not to cause material adverse effect on the client’s interest,” Porter Wright said in a statement, according to U.S. News & World Report. ''We will have no further comment."

The suit filed by Porter claimed Pennsylvania’s ''two-tiered'' voting system was illegal, referring to the vastly expanded absentee method instituted, ostensibly to lessen the spread of the novel cornavirus.
