Poll: Murphy Far Outpacing GOP Challenger in Conn.

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., is more than 20-points ahead of his Republican rival, Matthew Corey, in the latest poll from Gravis Marketing released Friday.

Murphy, a longtime politician, holds a significant lead over Corey, who owns a bar in Hartford and was a window-washer for almost 30 years. Murphy drew 58 percent of voters, while Corey held 35, with 7 percent undecided. The senator has almost universal support from his party, 88 percent, and strong support among independents, 51 percent, while Corey has the backing of 74 percent of Republicans and 37 percent of independents. Murphy has also managed to win over more Republicans, 18 percent, than Corey has Democrats, 8 percent.

Gravis polled 681 likely voters in Connecticut from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
