A majority of millennials say they are planning to vote in November despite a plurality of them saying this year's midterms are no more important than in past years, according to a new NBC News/GenForward poll.

The No. 1 driving force for millennials: 42 percent of those surveyed said they will vote in opposition to President Donald Trump vs. 14 percent who will vote to support the president.

The results, according to the survey:

  • 55 percent of millennials overall say they probably/definitely will vote.
  • 25 percent of millennials are unsure if they'll vote in November.
  • 19 percent of millennials say they probably/definitely will not vote.

However, 47 percent of millennials overall say that this year's midterms are no more important - "about the same" - than in past years, according to the poll.

More results:

  • 29 percent of millennials overall say these midterms are more important.
  • 16 percent of millennials overall say the midterms are less important.
  • 47 percent of Asian-American millennials say these midterms are more important.
  • 53 percent of white millennials say these midterms are about the same.
  • 45 percent of black millennials say these midterms are about the same.

The NBC News/GenForward survey was conducted July 26-Aug. 13 among a nationally representative sample of 1,910 adults ages 18-34, recruited and administered by NORC at the University of Chicago. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 3.80 percentage points.
