Just one-third of voters in three Midwest states — two of which helped President Donald Trump win the 2016 election — want him re-elected, according to three NBC News/Marist polls.

According to the surveys, in Michigan — where Trump won by nearly 11,000 votes — 28 percent believe Trump deserves a second term; 62 percent think someone else should be elected.

In Wisconsin, which Trump won by about 23,000 votes, 31 percent want Trump back in 2020, while 63 percent disagree.

In Minnesota, which Trump lost by only 1.5 percentage points, 30 percent of voters want Trump to remain in the White House and 60 percent say he shouldn’t be re-elected.

On the job approval front, the news is not much better.

According to the surveys, in Michigan, 36 percent of registered voters approve of the president’s job, while 54 percent disapprove.

In Wisconsin, 36 percent approved of the job he’s doing while 52 percent gave him a thumbs down. And in Minnesota, Trump’s job approval rating stands at 38 percent approving and 51 percent disapproving.

Democrats enjoy a lead in congressional preference from 8 points to 12 points in the three states, the surveys found.

In Michigan, 45 percent of voters prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress, while 36 percent want a GOP-controlled Congress; in Minnesota, 48 percent prefer the Democrats, to 36 percent backing the Republicans; and in Wisconsin, Democrats hold a 47 percent-to-39 percent lead in congressional preference.

The margin of error for 886 registered voters surveyed in Michigan is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points. In Minnesota the margin of error for the 876 registered voters is plus or minus 4 percentage points. And the margin of error of the 906 registered voters in Wisconsin is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
