A strong majority of Americans are in favor of myriad investigations into President Donald Trump, including 69 percent who support special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into possible collusion with Russia, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC poll.
The results, according to the ABC-Post survey:
- 69 percent support Mueller's probe of possible collusion.
- 25 percent are opposed.
- 64 percent support Mueller investigating Trump's business activities.
- 32 percent are opposed.
- 58 percent support Mueller investigating alleged hush money paid to Trump's paramours.
- 35 percent are opposed.
Just 41 percent of Republicans are in favor of Mueller's probe into collusion with Trump's campaign vs. 51 percent who are opposed; 70 percent of Independents support the probe, according to the survey.
Regarding James Comey, though just 30 percent of those surveyed have a favorable opinion of the former FBI director, 48 percent find him more believable than Trump.
Those results:
- 32 percent have an unfavorable opinion of Comey.
- 48 percent find Comey more believable than Trump.
- 32 percent find Trump more believable than Comey.
- 33 percent approve of Trump's decision to fire Comey last year.
- 47 percent disapprove of firing Comey.
The Post-ABC poll was conducted April 8-11 among a random national sample of 1,002 adults, including landline and cell phone respondents. Overall results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
