Fifty-nine percent of voters say special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign is fair, while 26 percent disagree, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.
Here is how the poll breaks down:
- 37 percent of Republicans say Mueller's probe is fair, compared to 46 percent who disagree.
- 75 percent of Democrats say the special counsel is conducting a fair investigation, while 16 percent say he is not.
- 61 percent of independents believe the Mueller investigation is fair, compared to 22 percent who disagree.
- 56 percent of all those polled believe President Donald Trump has attempted to derail or obstruct the probe, while 39 percent disagree.
- 68 percent of those surveyed believe the Russian government tried to influence the presidential election, compared to 27 percent who do not
The survey, conducted Jan. 5-9, polled 1,106 voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
