Forty percent of Nevada's voters favor Sen. Dean Heller, a Republican, in his re-election bid, compared to 39 percent who back his Democratic opponent, Rep. Jacky Rosen, a new Nevada Independent/Mellman Group poll reveals.

The margin of error in the poll is plus or minus 4 percent.

Here are how the numbers break down:

  • 28 percent are backing Heller strongly; 5 percent not strongly and 7 percent are leaning toward supporting him.
  • 30 percent are supporting Rosen strongly; 4 percent not strongly and 5 percent are leaning her way.
  • 21 percent of voters are undecided in the race.

The poll, conducted April 12-19, surveyed 600 Nevada voters.
