Planned Parenthood ripped President Donald Trump's administration on Friday for its "unacceptable attack" on birth control, The Hill reports.

The administration announced Friday that it was rescinding the healthcare regulation that required employers to provide birth control coverage in health insurance plans, meaning that companies can now deny birth control coverage by citing a religious or moral objection.

"The Trump administration just took direct aim at birth control coverage for 62 million women. This is an unacceptable attack on basic healthcare that the vast majority of women rely on," Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood president, said in a statement.

"This administration is carrying out a full-scale attack on birth control," she added, describing birth control availability as a "fundamental right."

"We cannot allow President Trump to roll back the progress women have made over the past century."

Richards also issued a series of tweets on the subject from her personal account, including a link to send a message protesting the decision to the Trump administration.
