An online petition looking for justice to be served in the death of George Floyd has more than 10 million signatures, Newsweek reports.
The "Justice for George Floyd" petition wants criminal charges to be filed against all former police officers involved in Floyd's death.
In a video released Tuesday, former police officer Derek Chauvin is shown kneeling on Floyd's neck. In a second video released Friday, two other officers can be seen holding Floyd down to the ground next to Chauvin. Floyd can be heard saying, "I can't breathe."
Only Chauvin faces third-degree murder and manslaughter charges. All four officers, Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kuengwere, and Chauvin were fired from the Minneapolis Police Department.
"We are trying to reach the attention of Mayor Jacob Frey and DA Mike Freeman to beg to have the officers involved in this disgusting situation fired and for charges to be filed immediately," the petition states.
The petition is addressed to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.
