President Donald Trump's critics laughing at the suggestion of buying Greenland should be laughing at their own hypocrisy, according to Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.
"The very people who are yelling about Russia's influence – somehow suggesting that President Trump is involved with the Russians – this is one way to stop the Russians, to slow it down, and have more of a hold on Greenland," King told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y., saying it has been viewed as a strategic arctic locale, rich in natural resources, since World War II.
King supports an effort to buy Greenland, telling host John Catsimatidis, "it's certainly something worth considering" as both Russia and China consider it an important piece in the region.
"I have no problem with the president putting it on the table," King said. "Again, it is a very strategic location. And, again, it could have natural resources also."
As for the Trump administration's public relations struggles of late, King says President Trump's rhetoric is getting in the way of reality.
"I don't agree with everything he says, but the record is good," King told Catsimatidis. "I just wish, for his sake, he would tone it down a bit so people could focus on all that he's achieved."
