A Pentagon staffer who previously served as a Trump campaign aide resigned Tuesday after CNN revealed his conspiracy and anti-Barack Obama postings on social media.

Todd Johnson, who worked for the Trump campaign as a state director in New Mexico, joined the Department of Defense in 2017. As an advance officer for the Pentagon, he has traveled overseas with Defense Secretary James Mattis, CNN reported.

According to CNN, Johnson in 2012 shared a video that spread the so-called "birther" theory that then-President Obama was not born in the United States, as well as a video that claimed Obama was the Antichrist.

In 2013, he agreed with friends who made anti-Muslim posts, including one that claimed Obama was himself a Muslim, the outlet found.

Johnson resigned after the Pentagon was made aware of the postings, CNN reported.
