President Donald Trump is expected to make fracking a central point in his attacks against Joe Biden on Tuesday night during his rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, specifically in swing state where he is down 13 points to the Democratic presidential candidate, reports The New York Times.

The Trump campaign has repeatedly touted Biden's plan to ban fracking and abolish fossil fuels should he become president, a claim the Biden campaign refutes.

"He wants to eradicate all the things that you're doing, all the things that are bringing in so much money for your state, it's a disgrace," Trump said during a recent trip to Pennsylvania. "Now he's trying to say, well, I didn't really mean that."

Biden, a Pennsylvania native and longtime Delaware senator, has fought back, though he has made confusing statements on the topic – last year he said he wanted to "end fossil fuel."

"I am not banning fracking," he said at in August at an event at Carnegie Mellon University. "Let me say that again. I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me."

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Biden's running mate, advocated for a fracking ban during her campaign for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination but acknowledges her view is different from Biden's.

Biden, instead, says he wants to stop leasing any new oil and gas rights on federal land and tighten restrictions on oil and gas development.

Pennsylvania produced more natural gas in 2019 than any country besides Russia and Iran, according to figures published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
