House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had some kind words for the three Republican senators who voted against their party's Obamacare repeal bill.
"I want to thank Sen. [John] McCain for establishing a higher level of participation as to how we should proceed," Pelosi said at a Friday press conference.
McCain returned to Washington, D.C. this week to vote on some crucial measures despite a recent procedure to remove a brain tumor and his subsequent brain cancer diagnosis.
"To Sens. [Lisa] Murkowski, [Susan] Collins, and McCain, thank you for hearing the voices of the families," Pelosi said.
MSNBC posted a clip of Pelosi's remarks on Twitter.
The three Republican lawmakers voted no on a bill early Friday to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
A disappointed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said after the votes were tallied, "I regret that our efforts were simply not enough, this time. This is clearly a disappointing moment. It's time to move on."
