House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Saturday ripped President Donald Trump as the "deflector-in-chief" and called for an independent investigation of his accusations that his campaign was wire-tapped by the Obama administration.

The California Democrat took to Twitter:

Trump unleashed a Twitter storm earlier Saturday that former President Barack Obama tapped his telephone at Trump Tower in New York as part an investigation into whether his campaign was communicating with the Russian government.

The tweets come after news reports this week that Attorney General Jeff Sessions met twice with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice last year while representing Alabama in the Senate.

Sessions on Thursday recused himself of any possible investigation of the Trump campaign's involvement with Russia.

President Trump has repeatedly denied having any personal dealings with Moscow, while his aides have rejected or played down any reports of contact with Russian officials.
