House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday said he's "really excited" about the tax bill put forth by Republicans, calling it "the game changer for our economy.
"There is not another thing we can do in Congress, in law, that will do more to grow this economy, lift wages, help people get a raise . . . than doing tax reform. This is it. This is the game changer for our economy," Ryan told CNBC.
"We are all in on this, we are unified on this, and we are excited about this," Ryan said.
Ryan was part of the "Big 6" who have been working on tax reform, along with Kevin Brady of Ways and Means and the White House and Senate leadership.
Ryan has remained steadfast that Republicans will get tax reform passed in this calendar year.
"We really can get this done this year," the Wisconsin Republican told CNBC's "Squawk Box." "You're not going to get 3 percent [economic] growth in 2018 if you don't get this done in 2017. So we're really serious about that."
Ryan offered a glimpse into the different approach taken on tax reform vs. healthcare.
"Unlike healthcare, where the House passed a bill and then the Senate went a different direction and ultimately didn't get anything passed, we're making sure we did the hard lifting, the tough work ahead of schedule, ahead of a rollout, so that we came up with the same framework. That's why I feel like we're really wired for success," Ryan said.
