Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is calling for a "comprehensive review" of how sexual harassment complaints are handled by the House, the Washington Examiner reports.
Ryan has ordered the House Administration Committee to begin the review with a hearing on the issue next week, according to the Examiner.
"We are taking the issue of sexual harassment very seriously and we are going to continue to do that," Ryan said on Wednesday. "We need to have a comprehensive review of all of these things so we can have a comprehensive response."
"We cannot and we will not tolerate that kind of behavior."
The review also will look at the federal funds used to pay for harassment settlements between lawmakers and victims.
The Examiner reported the House will decide on Wednesday whether to require lawmakers and their staffs to undergo sexual harassment training.
The vote follows sexual harassment allegations against two sitting members of Congress — Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., and Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., The Hill noted.
"Sexual harassment has no place in any workplace, let alone in the United States Congress," Ryan said. "The fact that some people walking these halls are subjected to a hostile or threatening work environment when they came here to serve their country, to serve their ideals, that's wrong.
"That's a disgrace."
