Sen. Rand Paul celebrated "Festivus" on his Twitter account Monday by "airing his grievances" on a variety of topics including the Senate, the Federal Reserve, and the National Security Agency, to name a few.
The Dec. 23 "holiday" was created by the hit 1990s television series "Seinfeld" that includes the "airing of grievances" and "feats of strength."
Paul, a Kentucky Republican, and tea party favorite started his holiday by bashing the recent budget deal.
"In Washington, 'bipartisan deal' is a synonym for 'increasing our debt,'" he tweeted.
He then talked about how neither party seems to stand up for the Bill of Rights.
"One party seems to like some of the Bill of Rights. The other party, some more. Few willing to stand up for the whole thing," Paul wrote.
He then complained about the recent Senate rule changes passed by the Democratic majority to prevent filibusters on most presidential nominees.
"Allow more debate and amendments. Don't change the rules to run it with an iron fist," Paul demanded.
The Federal Reserve, a favorite Paul target, was also his grievance list.
"Today has another significance besides a Festivus: It is the 100th anniversary of the Federal Reserve," he observed, adding: "Fed policies make you poorer, and hurt the poor and middle class the most. Ridiculous monetary policies increase the costs of goods."
Paul also couldn't resist taking another shot at Obamacare.
"I liked my plan. I did not get to keep it," he tweeted.
At one point, Paul even lured New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker into his Twitter conversation with a complaint about bipartisanship.
"One more Festivus grievance about bipartisanship. @CoryBooker doesn't RT me enough," he wrote.
Booker joined in by challenging Paul to a "feats of strength."
"U, me & 'feats of strength:' Senate floor, name the time," Booker wrote.
Then the two set off on a Twitter exchange that included a discussion of mandatory sentencing laws and a Paul favorite, the legalization of industrial hemp.
