Carl P. Paladino, the Republican nominee for governor of New York, is trying to soften his image and tout his government-frugal platform to counteract a “man of anger” image, according to
The New York Times. He posted a video saying the race is about jobs and economic growth."We’ve left that gutter politics," Paladino told Today show host Matt Lauer. "We’re interested in talking about the issues."

Still, Paladino is lashing out about corruption in state government. “The people of the state of New York have been maligned, and I’m probably one of the few people with the intestinal fortitude to go and take on these demons in Albany and do the right thing.’’
Paladino recently received national publicity for his altercation with a New York Post reporter. Paladino is now trying to show, that while he may be passionate about causes, he has the temperament to be governor.
“I reflect the frustration of the people and I will continue to reflect that," he said, adding, “In my own kind and gentle way.”
