Omarosa Manigault Newman says in her new memoir that President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly "referred to Puerto Ricans with derogatory terms many times," NBC News reports.
Manigault Newman, a former Trump aide and author of “Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House,” did not say specifically what those terms were, according to NBC.
She also says, NBC reports, that Kelly stopped her attempts to get aid for Puerto Rico after it was hit by Hurricane Maria. And she alleges that he accused the island government of trying to exploit the tragedy to get money from Washington, the network says.
NBC said the White House had no immediate comment on Manigault Newman's allegation.
