WashPost/ABC Poll: Obama Losing Base Support

By    |   Wednesday, 07 September 2011 02:18 PM EDT

The negative poll numbers just continue to mount for President Barack Obama. The latest come from a Washington Post-ABC News survey

Among self-identified liberals, only 69 percent approve of Obama’s job performance, which ties his record low from July 2011, the poll shows. Only 32 percent of Democrats believe the country is headed in the right direction.

When it comes to the economy, 70 percent of those who voted for him in 2008, support his policies now. That represents a decrease from 79 percent in October 2010. Among registered Democrats, only 60 percent approve of Obama’s handling of the economy, down sharply from 74 percent in March.
