Obama Plans Wednesday Dinner With Senate Democrats

Tuesday, 16 April 2013 05:32 PM EDT

President Barack Obama is making dinner plans with more lawmakers, this time with Democrats.

The White House says Obama is having dinner with 12 Democratic senators Wednesday at the Jefferson Hotel, where last month he dined with Republicans. He's trying to build support for his proposals, including those on the budget, gun control, and immigration.

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state helped arrange the dinner, with half the invitees from the Budget Committee she heads.

Invitees include Illinois' Dick Durbin, California's Dianne Feinstein, Rhode Island's Jack Reed, New Hampshire's Jeanne Shaheen, Colorado's Michael Bennet, Oregon's Ron Wyden, Michigan's Debbie Stabenow, Rhode Island's Sheldon Whitehouse, Virginia's Mark Warner, Delaware's Chris Coons and Louisiana's Mary Landrieu. Landrieu is the only guest considered a possible vote against the gun bill up for debate this week.
