NYT Issues Correction About Ohio Senator on July 4

The New York Times issued a correction to an article that claimed Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, had kept a low profile on the Fourth of July holiday.

The Times report initially said that Portman did not participate in any public events on July 4. A correction July 5 noted that Portman marched in two parades. Portman sent tweets during the day, including one from Lima, Ohio:

The Republican senator also tweeted from Findlay, Ohio:

The Times report noted that Republican senators who made no public appearances on July 4 included Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and both of Iowa’s senators, Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley.
