NRSC Readies War Chest for Alaska’s Miller

Ads financed by the National Republican Senatorial Committee are about to hit the air in Alaska to aid Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller. He’s locked in a tight battle with incumbent Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who is running as a write-in candidate after losing the Republican primary to Miller, and Democrat Scott McAdams. So Miller can certainly use the NRSC’s assistance, Roll Call reports.

Some Republicans are concerned that Miller, who is backed by the tea party movement, is diverging from the GOP establishment. “He is taking little counsel from the NRSC, or others, and is running his general election much the same as his primary,” says a Republican operative based in Washington, D.C. “He believes that if it won him the primary, it will work in two weeks. The NRSC is frustrated.”

Rasmussen’s most recent poll puts Miller’s support at 35 percent, compared to 34 percent for Murkowski and 27 percent for McAdams.
