Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., dismissed Hunter Biden's appearance on Capitol Hill on Wednesday as a "tremendous political stunt," telling Newsmax that President Joe Biden's son has become a "master of political theater."
Langworthy, a member of the House Oversight Committee, had a front row seat for Hunter Biden's cameo during the panel's hearing to find him in contempt of Congress. The first son entered the hearing and sat quietly in the gallery with his attorney for less than an hour.
Langworthy told "National Report" on Thursday that Hunter Biden played the role of "tough guy" until it didn't suit him anymore.
"This was a tremendous political stunt and Hunter has become a master of political theater at this point," Langworthy said.
The contempt of Congress hearing was over Hunter Biden skipping his deposition on Dec. 13, when he was legally required to appear.
"Between having his press conference on Capitol Hill when he was supposed to be reporting for his deposition, just to announce that he was refusing to comply with our subpoena, to showing up yesterday like a real tough guy, you know, charging into the hearing room and sitting down in the front row, supposedly to stare us down," Langworthy said. "And then what do you know? The minute Chairman [James] Comer calls on Marjorie Taylor Greene, he slaps his attorney on the leg and they get out and they run out of there.
"Hunter did not appear yesterday to answer anybody's questions," Langworthy added. "This was a show. He refuses to sit for that deposition because I think he just knows how uncomfortable that will be. He can't be treated like anyone else.
"And that's why he's been held in contempt of Congress by both committees at this point."
