Bachmann: I'm Running Against 'Newt-Romney,' Obama

By    |   Sunday, 11 December 2011 12:31 PM EST

Michele Bachmann’s coining of the phrase “Newt-Romney” during the Republican presidential debate in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday night was the first thing she was asked about this morning on \“Face the Nation" on CBS.

“There’s not a dime's worth of difference between the two of them,” the Minnesota congresswoman said of her reason for morphing the names of rivals Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. “When people say this is a two-man race, I would agree, but the one man is Newt-Romney, and the other man is Michele Bachmann.”

The Republican candidate who ascends to the White House must repeal Obamacare, she said, adding that she doesn’t believe either of them would.

“This is the seminal piece of legislation of Barack Obama,” she said. “It’s the one issue that our candidate has to take President Obama on with.”

Further, former House Speaker Gingrich represents the “consummate establishment insider,” and former Massachusetts Gov. Romney represents “big government,” she said.

“That’s not what we want in our nominee,” she said. “It doesn’t even survive the falling-off-the-chair-laughing test. We can’t afford big government anymore.”
