New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman accused President Donald Trump of "playing a game" in regards to his criticisms of the media.
Speaking on the Longform Podcast, Haberman said Trump doesn't fully grasp Twitter, said he has a short attention span, and noted that people in his White House are so worried their communications are being monitored that they talk late at night on a variety of phones.
Haberman was bluntly asked if she took Trump's attacks on the media seriously, to which she replied, "Yes, because people don't realize he's playing a game. I found it very alarming during the campaign when he did that."
Haberman added that she feels "Trump is eroding faith in institutions" through his criticisms.
Haberman also said covering the Trump White House is not what she would call fun.
"It's important work and I love my job, but I would not describe this as fun," she said, adding that Trump is "charming" in private, but seems to have "a limited attention span."
"He's fascinating, regardless of how people might feel about him. He is interesting to watch and he knows he is interesting to watch."
