The Trump campaign on Wednesday blasted Facebook for limiting the reach of the New York Post story alleging Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to an executive at a Ukrainian energy firm, calling its spokesman Andy Stone a Democrat operative censoring journalism harmful to the Democrat presidential candidate.

Stone said the story was being fact-checked by Facebook's third-party fact-checking partners.

"Silicon Valley leftists are now openly bragging about interfering with the election to help Joe Biden and undermine President [Donald] Trump by purposefully censoring journalism in a clear effort to rig the election," Trump campaign national press secretary Hogan Gidley said in a statement.

"The social media giants and tech overlords have already declared themselves to be the sole arbiters of truth, and now they're trying to prevent people from seeing important information that proves Joe Biden was lying to the American people and that he clearly knows about his son's lucrative, corrupt business schemes in foreign countries."

Other conservatives also jumped in to criticize the social media giant, including Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo.

"So @Facebook is going to actively censor a @nypost investigative story on the Democrat candidate for president," Hawley tweeted. "But rest assured, Facebook is a neutral platform with no political viewpoints!"

"They've continued to censor conservatives, and now they're sweeping negative stories about Biden under the rug," wrote Buck.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said Facebook's "hypocrisy is not sustainable."

"Four years ago BuzzFeed posted the Steele Dossier, filled with lies and misinformation, and Twitter and Facebook happily spread their fake news. Now these platforms are blocking transmission of a New York Post story critical of a Democrat. The hypocrisy is not sustainable."

The Post article references emails and files from a laptop that purportedly belonged to Hunter Biden. The Post obtained the hard drive from Rudy Giuliani, a personal lawyer to President Donald Trump.

Giuliani's office said it obtained the hard drive from an anonymous repair shop owner in Delaware.
