Attorney General William Barr is a "henchman" of President Donald Trump who should lose his law license, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.
Pelosi appeared on the "Sway" podcast with journalist Kara Swisher and said Barr is unfit to serve in his position, but that Democrats have other battles that are more pressing.
"Bill Barr is a complete henchman. He's a disgrace to the office he holds, he shouldn't even be a lawyer. He should be disbarred," Pelosi said. "We've held him in contempt of Congress. But he is an employee. And the villain here is Donald Trump. And that is what we have to do, is to make sure [Trump] is not reelected."
Barr continually defends Trump in the face of criticism from Democrats and others, which has led some to conclude that he should no longer serve in his role at the top of the Department of Justice. Barr previously was attorney general from 1991 to 1993 under former President George H.W. Bush.
Pelosi said Barr is "a waste of time. Right now, we have the election. The fact is, he's not worth it because we have a pandemic. And it's hard enough to convince this administration that they should stop the pandemic, but at least testing, tracing, treatment, face masks, isolation, and sanitation, than to waste our time on Barr. That's what I think."
