Ohio Democrat Tim Ryan thinks he has enough support to unseat Nancy Pelosi as Democratic minority leader in the House.

The vote is scheduled for Wednesday.

"I think a lot of people are going to be surprised tomorrow. We have a lot of support," Ryan said Tuesday on CNN's "New Day" program. We keep rolling out members of Congress who are supporting us."

Ryan said Reps. Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts and Dan Lipinski of Illinois have backed his candidacy, and that two more will get announced Tuesday.

House Democrats voted to delay the vote 2 weeks ago, postponing it to Wednesday, giving themselves time to mull changes to the Democratic leadership. The delay was seen as a blow to Pelosi, the longtime California Rep. and former House Speaker.

"People are excited for some change and I'm excited to have the opportunity to lead the caucus if they so choose," Ryan told CNN. "I think we need a change.

"We really gotta ask ourselves when we walk out of the room tomorrow, 'What are we going to tell the American people?' That what happened on Tuesday, what we've not been able to do since 2010 is OK? We're going to keep going down the same path? Or will we have a new messenger, a new message, a new brand and a new Democratic party?" Ryan said.
